Guest of a Lady
Project type
Bronze sculpture
Date
2025
Location
Brentford, London
The Guest of a Lady is an interactive bronze sculpture depicting a seated woman in period attire, inspired by Brentford’s industrious nineteenth-century past.
She represents the town’s working heritage, the era when the Grand Union Canal and Great Western Railway brought prosperity, movement, and life to the waterfront.
Composed with an open gesture, she invites passers-by to sit beside her and share the view, recalling a time when the local taverns, trades, and travellers filled the air with conversation and song.
As I imagined it, the piece carries the spirit of Oliver! - Nancy leading the crowd in a raucous “Oom-pah-pah” - a celebration of character, community, and place.
